Clovis
Clovis was a famous Frankish ruler that was know for his cruel and harsh leadership, but all in all he was a strong leader that everyone looked up too. At first he was polytheistic, the belief of many gods, but this did not only give him poor authority and likeness towards him by his people, but he also started to loss many battles even though he prayed to his believed gods. After consistent nagging and begging from his wife, Clotilde, too pray to the Christian god, he finally gave in. No sooner had he started pray to the Christian god than he started to win battles. Confident that this was the right choice, he converted to Christianity and won battle after battle. Clovis was a strong and confident leader but the rulers that followed him were weak leaders until one day a special ruler came into existence, the Holy Ruler of Western Europe; Charlemagne.

Charlemagne
Charlemagne was a fierce ruler that had his own personal priorities; rule over all of western Europe and to convert every person that he possibly could, unlike Clovis, to Christianity. Unlike his following successors, Charlemagne loved to learn, and offered many educational programs to everyone. He loved education so much, that he even had a notebook stashed underneath his pillow so that he could practice his handwriting. Although Charlemagne loved to learn, it didn't make him a nearly a nice fellow as you might think. He fought many times to finally overcome as much land and territory as he did. In the end Charlemagne conquered so much land, that it was almost entirely the western part of Europe, except for the Saxons, who were extremely ferocious and Charlemagne was never able to conquer them. Charlemagne also converted countless people to Christianity. All in all he met his goals pretty squarely, and in doing so he was crowned the Holy Emperor of Western Europe, which he was pleased to be in this role but by the Pope crowning him ruler, meant that the Pope had more power than himself. This greatly annoyed Charlemagne and from then on he and the Pope never really got along together.
